Scarry Ukrainian
Well, by ’scarry’ I mean the children’s author and illustrator, Richard Scarry. I’m always interested in multi-lingual children’s books (as I have a toddler), and this adaptation of The Best Word Book Ever by Richard Scarry into Ukrainian (and French) is very interesting indeed.
Richard Scarry was a prolific children’s book author from the United States […]

Is Homer Simpson Ukrainian?
I guess Homer is sort of Ukrainian by association. The creator of the Simpsons, Matt Groening, is of Ukrainian Mennonite heritage and in fact the namesake of Homer Simpson was Matt’s father, Homer Groening, who was Ukrainian Mennonite and spoke Plautdietsch (Mennonite Low German). On-line Translators for Russian and Ukrainian
On-line translators are becoming quite popular. While I lived in The Netherlands, I used Babelfish to help translate apartment listings, and it worked quite well. Granted, the translation wasn’t that good, and at most you could hope to understand 80% of what was written, but sometimes that is good enough.
There are now many on-line services […]

It’s official, the US now uses ‘Kyiv’
I just saw this article dated October 19, 2006. It basically says that the US Government is now officially using ‘Kyiv’ instead of ‘Kiev’.
I have been debating changing the city’s name on my site, and to tell you the truth, my continued use of ‘Kiev’ is more related to practicality than anything. My site is […]

Surfing del.icio.us
Well, I am slowly starting to get the blog portion of this site going. Today I am surfing del.icio.us. It took several search pages before I came up with anything that was new to me or worth mentioning. I will be adding the URLs to the pages of this site.
The first site of some interest […]
