Black Sea Dolphin Therapy
About a week ago I read this story about a pod of dolphins attacking a swimmer in the Black Sea, so I thought I would do a post on Black Sea bottlenose dolphins. Of course, it didn’t take much searching the web to see that the Black Sea dolphin was not fairing well considering […]

The Black Sea from Space
I came across an interesting satellite photo of the Black Sea and thought I would post it, but then I did a bit more searching and came up with my favorites images along with some interesting information. All images are from NASA, and I will give the links for each photo as the larger images […]

The Crimean Wine Archive
In 1894 Tsar Nicholas II decided to build a great winery in the Crimea. Lacking proper storage facilities, local miners were called in to dig three layers of cool, humid cellars. He wanted some vino for his Livadia Palace — fair enough. The resulting winery, Massandra, is pictured below.
As for Tsar Nicholas’ wine tastes the […]

Four Featured Websites
I have been busy reviewing sites today, so I will highlight four sites that I found useful and interesting.
The first is Buy Ukraine. I had seen this advertised on a few sites and just now checked it out. Basically, it’s an income-generating project of the US-Ukraine Foundation that uses the proceeds from sales to […]

For instance, I found the Greek portion of […]

Climbing Rock in Ukraine
First of all, I must caveat this post. I am not a rock climber of any sort. I have rappelled and climbed only once and was bad it. I don’t rock climb, boulder, ice climb, rappel or cave. And not only am I not good at this stuff, I am not limber, I have back […]

Photo — Crimean Flowers
This a great photo from Alex (a.k.a. Meskalito) showing wild flowers in Crimea. Meskalito has a lot of great photos on Flickr, and I would highly recommend checking them out. This one in particular is even more impressive in a larger format. Meskalito also has photo sets that include extreme sport shots such as base […]
